In the words of John F. Kennedy, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
This day, for some, might just represent just another day. However, for others this day represents a day of true patriotism and reverence. It is not an excuse to run to the nearest store for “super” discounts. This is not the day to go shopping for a new flat-screen. Today, we grieve. Today, we celebrate. Today, we show respect and honor those who make it possible for Americans to bicker among themselves and sleep soundly in their beds.
Yes, the day is perhaps one that holds both joy and sadness, but always the utmost respect.
Dear Soldiers, Sailors, those who served, and those serving at home, or abroad,
We reserve this day to remember your sacrifices, bravery, and honor. A mere “thank you” is not enough to express how truly grateful we are. To you and your families, we respect, honor, and send our love to you. We appreciate all that you have done and are doing for our country, so that we may live our lives in safety and freedom.
All gave some, some gave all. You are in our prayers whether you’re home or overseas.
