Smith&Wesson M&P Shield 9mm M2.0
M&P has released the newest addition to their compact series: the Shield M2.0. They have taken the features and power of the full-sized M&P pistols and put them into this slim, single-stack, lightweight pistol. The Shield M2.0 is compact with all the design features of the M2.0 line. This pistol offers professional, tactical, reliable features without the weight of a full size.
The M&P Shields were already a concealed carry favorite, but what’s new with the M2.0? Smith & Wesson has figured out a way to make a favorite, the best, one of the most coveted, concealed carry pistols even more perfect than its predecessors. Here’s a basic list: finer texturing on the grip, machined forward cocking serrations, and improved striker for a lighter trigger pull.
Attention to Details
The grip has an aggressive texture grip for better control and handling which wraps around to both the front and rear straps and the side panels. Also, the M2.0 has a new, crisp trigger with lighter trigger pull; approximately 5lbs (as opposed to the 7lbs of the previous generation) with a tactile and audible trigger reset. You know, one with that satisfying Click. Smith & Wesson achieved this lighter trigger pull by improving the geometry of the striker.
The M2.0 also holds at the original, sweet 18-degree, but thin grip angle for natural and comfortable aiming. Finally, it’s finished with Armornite—a durable, corrosion resistant coating. M&P has also machined forward cocking serrations for the chamber-checkers among us.
The M2.0 has M&P’s patented take-down lever and sear deactivation system that makes disassembly a snap without pulling the trigger. This makes cleaning a snap, rather than a chore. It also comes with two magazines one seven-round and one eight-round with a grip extender (for you guys with bit mitts). It is also available with or without a manual thumb safety.
The Shield M2.0 weighs a light, 18.3 ounces and it’s thin, so it can be carried all day without discomfort. The slim design lends itself to being versatile—so carry it on your hip in an IWB holster, in your pocket, on your ankle—wherever! The barrel length is 3.1 inches; overall the M2.0 is 6.1” (that’s just a little over the size of the iPhone 8), which means this would make a decent pocket gun, if you don’t have one already.
