Ruger LCP II
Ruger advertising this pistol as “Best-in-class lightweight compact pistol” and based on the specs they’re right—the LCP II weighs in at 10.6 ounces. It has a rugged construction with a hardened-through steel slide and a black finished, high performance, glass-filled nylon grip frame. The compact LCP II is merely 5.17 inches long and 3.71 inches tall—designed to fit a variety of Ruger LCP 2 Kydex holsters and provide many concealed carry options, whether that is in a pocket holster, or a Ruger LCP 2 IWB holster.
The Ruger LCP II has a short, crisp trigger pull that feels like a single-action. The textured grip frame provides a secure and comfortable glass-filled nylon grip. The grip includes a finger grip extension floorplate which can be added to the magazine for comfort and grip. The slide is hardened-through steel with improved sights for superior visibility. Fixed front and rear sights are integral to the slide, while the hammer is recessed within the slide.
Safety features include bladed trigger safety—neutrally balanced sear with significant engagement and strong spring retention. The hammer catch prevents the hammer from coming in contact with the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled. The rear serrations provide an easy-to-rack design, and the slide for the LCP II itself is designed to hold open after the last round is ejected (whereas the LCP slide does not).
Ruger notes that the six-round LCP magazines are compatible with the LCP II, but will not activate the last round hold-open feature of the LCP II. Seven-round magazines for the LCP are not compatible at all with the LCP II. On their website, there are several different models available in different finishes and other modifications.
