Clinger Core System
When it comes to carrying concealed, flexibility is everything. Whether you’re carrying strong-side, appendix, IWB, or OWB, your holster should adjust to your body, your routine, and your preferences. Our Clinger Holsters Core System is one of a kind and that’s exactly what makes Clinger Holsters stand out.
In a recent breakdown from the Defense Specialist Training Team, Paul walked us through what makes Clinger Holsters a smart, modular solution for everyday carry. Based in Van Buren, Arkansas, Clinger manufactures high-quality Kydex holsters with a .08 thickness, offering the perfect balance of structure, comfort, and durability.
One Shell. Multiple Carry Options.
With Clinger, one Kydex shell can be configured in multiple ways. Whether you want inside-the-waistband (IWB), outside-the-waistband (OWB), or tuckable carry, this system can do it all—and more. You don’t need to buy multiple holsters for different purposes. Just one shell and the right attachments will carry you through whatever the day demands.
Every holster comes ready for customization:
- Adjustable ride height
- Adjustable cant (angle of draw)
- Ambidextrous setup (switch between left and right-handed use in minutes)
Clinger’s "Gear" Clip system is a standout feature. It allows you to adjust the cant in 30-degree increments so you can carry at the exact angle that feels most natural to you. Whether you prefer a steep FBI-style cant or a straight draw, this system adapts in seconds.

Step-by-Step: How It Works
Paul walks through transforming the holster from IWB to OWB and back again in just minutes:
1. Inside-the-Waistband (IWB) Setup
Start by selecting your ride height. Using three screw holes, you can set your holster to ride high or low. Attach the Gear clip to the holster body with the teeth facing outward. Then align your belt clip to the desired angle, whether you want a straight drop or an aggressive cant. Insert the spacers, test retention with your firearm inserted, and you're good to go.
2. Switching to Outside-the-Waistband (OWB)
To convert to OWB, simply remove the Gear clip and use the included belt loop attachment. This requires removing the two lower screws that control retention to mount the belt loop hardware. Use the included spacers, long posts, and short screws to complete the setup.
3. Reconfiguring with the Hinge System
Using Clinger’s hinge attachment, you can convert your holster to either OWB or IWB with a dual-clip system. Interestingly, Paul discovered an unintentional but functional IWB setup by mounting the hinge on the front side, proving just how adaptable these configurations can be. The hinge clips can be adjusted for ride height and retention, and you can switch between carry styles without completely disassembling the holster each time.
Built-In Ambidextrous Function
Every Clinger holster shell is ambidextrous. If your holster arrives set up for right-handed carry but you're a lefty, it takes less than five minutes to switch everything to the opposite side. No need to order a different model. Just flip the hardware, adjust your cant and ride height, and you’re back in business.
Pro Tips for Configuring Your Clinger Holster
-
Test retention with your gun inserted: Always check how your firearm fits and draws after adjusting.
-
Keep your screws organized: If you plan to switch configurations often, set aside screws and hardware for each setup.
-
Use the thread locker: If you prefer a fixed setup and don’t plan to reconfigure often, applying the thread locker included in the Hardware Pack will help keep everything secure long-term.
The Bottom Line
Clinger Holsters aren’t just built for carry—they’re built for your carry. Whether you're new to concealed carry or a seasoned EDC pro, the ability to modify one shell into multiple setups offers serious value, convenience, and customization.
So if you’ve ever wished you had one holster that could do it all—IWB, OWB, left or right-handed, straight or canted draw—Clinger Holsters has made it a reality. Pick up a bundle, experiment with configurations, and find what works best for your lifestyle. You’ll be surprised how much one holster can do.
